Things to Do in Colorado

We hope you’ll make the most of the holiday weekend and enjoy Colorado! Below, we’ve included activities in Colorado Springs and beyond if you’d like to extend your trip.

In Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs Labor Day Liftoff

Every Labor Day, the City of Colorado Springs hosts a hot air balloon festival Downtown in Memorial Park. The park is 2 miles away from our Downtown hotel blocks and 5 miles from The Broadmoor.

Weather permitting, you’ll be able to look up at dawn on the morning of the wedding through Labor Day and see hot air balloons in flight.

Activities at The Broadmoor

The Broadmoor offers a wide variety of activities like golf, tennis, pickleball, rock climbing, zip lining, falconry, fly fishing, white water rafting, and so much more!

Please note that many of these activities are limited to overnight guests of the resort.

Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Hiking a 14’er - the slang term for a 14,000 foot tall mountain - is not for the faint of heart. To experience the Summit of Pikes Peak without the hike, you can take the Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the top of America’s Mountain!

Garden of the Gods

Colorado Springs’ most famous natural landmark! Admire the 300 foot sandstone rock formations against the backdrop of Pikes Peak. While parking and hiking are fun, it’s equally as gorgeous to drive through.

U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum

Experience the immersive journey of America’s greatest athletes at our favorite place in Colorado Springs! Legend has it that Nicole once beat Leah on the indoor race track here - Leah remembers it differently.

Red Rock Canyon Open Space

For an easy hike, we recommend checking out Red Rock Canyon Open Space! The Open Space has a variety of trails and is typically less crowded than Garden of the Gods.

Beyond Colorado Springs

Royal Gorge

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad offers unparalleled views of Royal Gorge and the Colorado Rockies, all while you enjoy a meal on board the train.

The Royal Gorge is about an hour drive south of Colorado Springs.

Red Rocks Park & Ampitheatre

Red Rocks Ampitheatre is one of the world’s best concert venues. You can catch a show Labor Day Weekend - click the link below to see who is in town - or take a hike around the park.

Red Rocks is about an hour north of Colorado Springs and about 40 minutes west of the Denver Airport.

Meow Wolf

We are big fans of the museum scene in Denver. This is probably the most unique!

Meow Wolf is a surrealist, psychedelic art playground created by over 350 local and international artists. Meow Wolf has locations across the western United States, but Denver’s is their largest. It’s hard to explain, but easy to enjoy!

Meow Wolf is about an hour north of Colorado Springs and about 20 minutes west of the Denver Airport.
